MARPOL Annex VI

This course provides training for master, deck engineer officers in order to enable them to maintain and operate a ship in accordance with MARPOL 73/78, with a view to protect the marine environment against atmospheric pollution from ships, ensure safe and environmentally sound tanker operations and prevent any port state intervention in ship’s operation and preserve the integrity of the Company in shipping.

Objective:

Those successfully completing this course will thereby be enabled to appreciate the concern about pollution of the marine environment, understand the impact of oil pollution and the international rules aimed at preventing such pollution insofar as this is caused by machinery space operations. The course helps trainees to correctly identify the ozone depleting substances that may be found on board ship and methods on the prevention of further deterioration of the ozone layer. The trainees will be able to correctly apply the principles and procedures and ensure correct use of the appropriate equipment involved in the prevention of marine pollution to effectively protect the marine environment against air pollution in ships in which they (the trainees) serve. And most of all, avoid ship delays in port arising from Port State action.

Entry Standards:


This course is open to all ship’s personnel wishing to upgrade themselves on the latest Annex of MARPOL or as part of their company requirements.


Certificate of Training:

On successful completion of the course and active participation in group work, a document shall be issued certifying that the holder has completed a course of training in MARPOL Annex VI Course
