MANAGEMENT LEVEL COURSE FOR MARINE ENGINEERS

Function 3: Maintenance and Repair at the Management Level

This Module Course is designed to comply with the requirements of the 1978 International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping as amended in 1995 (STCW ’95) particularly on the provisions stated there in for Function 3: Maintenance and Repair at the Management Level. The aforesaid requirements are further detailed in the STCW Code Table AIII/ 2, and this module course shall address particular requirements on how to Organize Safe Maintenance and Repair Procedures, and How to Detect and Identify Machinery Malfunctions.

Training Methodology:
 

This course shall be delivered using the classroom as well as participative mode of instructions. One Lead Instructor shall deliver the Classroom Instruction and an Assistant Instructor shall assist the Lead Instructor particularly during learning activities.



Certificate of Training:

 

Successful Trainees shall be awarded with certificates of completion, attesting to their successful completion of the course, in partial fulfillment of the requirements set forth by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for the eventual issuance of the Certificate of Competency.



Entry requirements:
 

This course is primarily intended for Marine Engineer Officer aiming to gain Certificate of Competency as Management Level Officers in manned or periodically manned engine room. It is expected that trainees have already graduated from the BS Marine Engineering course and having been well exposed on the different machineries found at the ship’s engine room as an operational level officer.
