MANAGEMENT LEVEL COURSE FOR DECK OFFICERS

Function 1:  Advanced Navigation

This approved training course covers the requirements of Regulation II/2 of the 1978 STCW Convention as amended in 1995 and Section AII/ 2 of the STCW Code for the function Navigation at the Management Level.

Training Methodology:

This course shall be delivered using the lecture and practical exercises or simulation activities types of instructions. One Lead Instructor shall deliver the Classroom Instruction and an Assistant Instructor shall assist the Lead Instructor particularly during Simulation or practical exercises.

Certificate of Training:

On successful completion of the course and active participation in group work, a document shall be issued certifying that the holder has completed a course of training in Function 1: Advanced Navigation Course

Entry requirements:

This course is primarily intended for Marine Deck Officers aiming to become certified as a Management Level Officer, to gain Certificate of Competency as Chief Officer (C/O) and Master Mariner. Open to marine deck officers who are holders of STCW ’95 at the operational level with at least six (6) months of seagoing service on that capacity.
