
ELECTRONIC CHART DISPLAY AND INFORMATION SYSTEM with AIS (ECDIS w/ AIS)
This course is essentially a practical one, consisting of a series of exercises structured around the basic theory and use of Electronic Chart Display and Information System performed on an ECDIS set installed in a Ship Bridge Simulator Systems delivered by Kongsberg Maritime Simulation System AS.
Objectives:
A trainee successfully completed this course will be able operate the ECDIS equipment, use its navigational functions, acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of the basic principles governing the safe operation of ECDIS including ECDIS data and their presentation, as well as the system related limitations and potential dangers.The trainee will have knowledge on the principal types of electronic chart and the essential legal aspects of the use of ECDIS.
Course Content:
Simulator System Overview; NSCPi Training Concept; legal aspects and requirements of the use of ECDIS; principal types of electronic chart; presentation of ECDIS data; basic navigational functions and settings; specific functions of route planning and monitoring; updating; display and function of other navigational information; errors in displayed data and interpretation; status indications, indicators and alarms; documentation; integrity monitoring; backup and risk of overreliance on ECDIS.

Training Methodology:
Classroom Instructions, computer based instructions and Dynamic real time simulation Certificate of Training shall be given to each candidate who satisfactorily completed the course and passed the level of knowledge and competence specified in Table AII/ 1 of STCW 95 Code as amended.
