DECK WATCHKEEPING IN THE DOMESTIC TRADE


This course is designed to address the requirements mandated by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) concerning the performance standard in Deck Room Watchkeeping in the Domestic Trade. This course shall cover the subject areas , among other things, the competence to perform the function at the support level minimum knowledge , understanding and proficiency of deck ratings in the Safe Operation of Ships, Safety of Lives and properties, and Protection of the Marine Environment.

Objectives:

At the end of the course , trainees shall be able to demonstrate the competence and perform the duties and responsibilities in the function of support level forming part of a navigational watch: To encourage safety awareness. To acquire working knowledge. To demonstrate competence in core function.

To understand the relationship of Master and Pilot and; To protect lives, property and protection of the marine environment.

Instructor’s Manual, and Relevant case studies


Entry Standards:

This course is primary intended for marine deck ratings who are engaged or employed in the domestic shipping trade particularly Deck Watchkeeping on various ships plying in the Philippines territorial waters . It os expected hat trainees has already completed the theoretical part of being a deck rating forming pat of navigational watch boarding vessels of 100 gt and above.


Certificate of Training:

On successful completion of the course and active participation in group work, a document shall be issued certifying that the holder has completed a course of training in Deck Watckeeping in the Domestic Trade
