Delivering Quality Training
There was no doubt in our minds that the Philippines will make it to the IMO's "White List". The main core of the STCW '78 as Amended is all about maritime education and training. And behold, the birth of the New Simulator Center of the Philippines, Inc. (NEWSIM). NEWSIM is a Filipino owned corporation whose goal is to provide facilities for advanced maritime upgrading of skills and assessment of competence for seafarers. We were launched on 08 December 2000. All these challenging years as we try to meet the needs and the demands of our dynamic industry by delivering quality maritime education and training.
Incorporating the Latest in Technology
We boast of seven (7) navigational bridges, one of which is a full mission beridge, three (3) are equipped with limited visuals and three (3) are entry level blind bridges. Our Engine Room Simlators are composed of eight (8) propulsion plant workstations, fully scalable simulators alongside our program, which is continuously being developed and upgraded to meet maritime industry’s changing requirements worldwide. Our Liquid Cargo Handling Simulators have six (6) works stations working with six (6) ship models: LPG, Chemical Tanker, VLCC Duoble Hull, Product Tanker, LNG Spherical and LNG Membrane. With our high-tech equipment and world-class facilities coupled with our endearing expertise, our maritime programs are all geared to meet the requirements of the STCW ’78 Convention as Amended in 1995 as well as the requirements of the most demanding ship owners. We are operating and maintaining Quality Standards System under the frameworks of:
- ISO 9001:2008 series incorporating the relevant provisions of the STCW as Amended and ISM Code;
- DNV Rules for Maritime Training Center; and
- DNV Rules for Maritime Simulator Center.
